In the height of this year’s heat wave, this fiancee was literally jumping up and down with joy. We thought we’d share this happy moment with you.

Half-way into July (I’ll say it again, half-way into July!!!) and I’d say it’s about time to do a ruby post. With its intense raspberry colour, ruby is birthstone for July. The ruby is one of the most prized gemstones in history. It was thought to promote power white warding off evil. The ruby represents heat and power. We are celebrating summer with these stunning gems.

Our ruby collection was featured in the fabulous magazine, “Arabella.” Check out their magazine arabelladesign.com
We are also celebrating the summer with the fabulous Mirvish performances of Carrie Fisher and Hugh Jackman, both of which are right at our doorstep
We are very excited to tell you about our friend, the chef extraordinaire David Chrystian. Do you ever wonder how to use your favorite vintage items? Check out how Mango Studios used items from the Cynthia Findlay collection in their vintage wedding shoot. Mango Studios borrowed the antique lockets, the brass and glass heart shaped box and the brass elk antlers (which is the base to an inkwell). The photography and the props are simply stunning. Check out the post at mangostudios.com
Monet called, he wants his garden back. This is a perfect spring
proposal to kick off a summer of love.
Gary loved telling us about his beautiful girlfriend’s perfect hands. We needed to find these perfect hands a perfect promise ring. We did. Gary proposed in a canoe on a stunning river, and the perfect hands now wear a perfect ring.
New Series: What Cynthia Bought
We’re going to start a new series on this blog called, “What Cynthia Bought.” Every week we will feature one new piece that we think is particularly spectacular. Kind of like the “What I wore” of vintage goods.
Take a look at this lamp, isn’t it just amazing? I want to pluck and eat one of the glowing grapes. This is a Czech piece, made in the 1920’s. Carrie Fisher, who is currently in town doing her one woman “Wishful Drinking” show, has a very similar lamp on her stage.
I can see this lamp in the sun room of a beautiful country house.
Question, how would you use this lamp? in a study? living room? dining room? I’d love to hear your decorating ideas.
